Privacy policy

For client review: This is a plain-language draft written to the brief. It must be reviewed by a South African attorney or POPIA practitioner before launch, and the information officer's name and contact details must be added.

Who we are

Coach Oscar ("we") is a coaching, speaking and author-mentoring practice based in Cape Town, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here, as defined in POPIA.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address and password when you create a member account.
• Profile and programme information: your goals, reflections, notes and progress through the 14 Steps and the Book Sprint.
• Your writing: anything you write in the Book Canvas, including drafts and version history.
• Enquiries: what you send through our contact, coaching and keynote forms.
• Payment records: the amount, date and reference for purchases. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never stored by us.
• Technical information: basic device and usage data needed to keep the site secure and working.

Why we use it

To give you access to your account and programmes, to deliver coaching and events you have booked, to process payments, to reply to your enquiries, and to send you the daily tip and service messages you have agreed to receive. We do not sell your information.

Your writing stays yours

Your manuscripts and notes are private by default. Nobody, including Oscar, can read them unless you explicitly share them for review. You can withdraw that sharing at any time, and you keep all rights to your work.

Sharing with others

We share information only with service providers who help us operate — hosting, email delivery, payments and video sessions — and only to the extent they need it. Where those providers process information outside South Africa, we rely on providers with comparable data-protection commitments.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and writing for as long as your account is active. If you close your account we delete your content within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax and legal purposes.

Your rights

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Ask us to delete your account and your content.
• Export your writing at any time from the member area.
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails with one click.
• Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Security

Access to your data requires authentication, database rules restrict every record to its owner, and connections are encrypted. No system is perfect, so if a breach affects you we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
